What We Do
The Wood County Recorder's Office of Ohio provides the following services:
- Records legal documents and maintains INDEXES to land transfers. Examples: Deeds, Mortgages, Leases, Liens, etc.
- Records and maintains INDEXES to the platting, surveying, annexing of land into cities, villages, subdivisions, condominiums, etc.
- Record and maintain indexes for Veteran's Discharges, dating back to the Civil War.
- Provides copies and certified copies of any document recorded in the office.
- Assist with the search of historical information (back to the 1800's) on any property located in Wood County. This search can also be done by name for genealogy purposes.

Official Mandate
Under statute, the County Recorder shall serve on the County RECORDS COMISSION which authorizes the retention of county records and determines when or how these government records may be disposed; and the AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING BOARD which authorizes any purchase, lease, or contract for data processing equipment for county offices. The County Recorder also collects fees for documents filed in the recorder's office, and pays these monies into the county's general fund; maintains an accurate record of all monies appropriated to the Recorder's office for it's operation; performs all accounting functions necessary to the operation of the Recorder's office including preparation of annual budgets and reports, vouchers, purchase orders, etc., and maintains all payroll records, sick vacation leave records, and other records pertaining to the Recorder's staff; files annually an ethics report, inventory of office equipment, depository agreements for funds and every other report as required by law; notifies boards of county commissioners and township trustees annually of their duty to file zoning resolutions, maps, and amendments.
