WHAT IS PROPERTY FRAUD?
According to the FBI, property and mortgage fraud is the fastest-growing white-collar crime in the United States. The Wood COunty Recorder's Office is takin a proactive step to protect the county's property owenrs by offering a free early warning alert service. Wood County property owners can sign up to have their properties monitored to track possible fraudulent activity.
HOW CAN YOU PROTECT YOURSELF?
By signing up for our free service, you will receive and alert via e-mail, text, or phone call each time a document such as a deed, mortgage, or other lien against your property is recorded in our office. The alert will provide you with a volume and page reference. You may then go to our online search indexes, enter the volume and page, and see more detailed information about the document recorded.
You are always welcome to contact our office for further assistance at 419-354-9140, or come in to our office Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm to view the document.
Receiving an alert about activity you have not initiated will allow you to be better able to take appropriate action. If you do suspect fraud, contact your local law enforcement agency.

Signing up is simple! Just fill out and sign the Fraud Alert form. PLEASE USE ONE FORM PER PROPERTY ADDRESS.
